Enter “The Gamers Realm” from Jason Richards cannot be trusted
Once I figured out it wasn’t a late-night telemarketing company or a secret suburban opium den, I got close enough to see the sign. Score one for The Gamers Realm. Clearly I had misunderestimated this small wonder, this Little Engine That Could of the gaming world. So, I found a parking spot, approached the building, and stepped through the door. Shocked, again. This is no little store. It’s huge! At least, it’s huge compared to my brain’s default setting for the dilapidated, dark, musty gaming shops with which I have become acquainted. Spread before me was a well-lit space with polished concrete floors, on which stood racks of board games, pewter minis, fantasy-styled jewelry, and display cases featuring the top quality wares. What was even more surprising were the eight or more tables, around which huddled gamers playing Warhammer and Cataan and card games. The place was buzzing with conversation and laughter and declarative statements regarding the actions or armies on carefully-constructed terrain boards.

Open Today: Mas Malo Revives Restored Downtown Space
Rolled eggplant and potato tacos (Lindsay William-Ross/LAist) NEXT ? If you’ve ever climbed the carpeted stairs to Downtown’s favorite whiskey bar, 7 Grand, you may have wondered what was on the ground floor, and behind the wall to your left. For several years that space remained vacant, and only now has been restored, renovated, and re-purposed as an even more east-side sibling of Silver Lake’s popular Malo restaurant. Built in the 1920s as a jewelry store, and home once upon a time to Clifton’s Cafeteria’s Silver Spoon , the space that is Mas Malo incorporates the original murals, vaulted and embellished ceilings, and jewelry display cases into its design. The menu is largely the same as the original restaurant, including the head chef’s family favorite ground beef and pickle tacos that are oh-so-perfect for carnivores who need to soak up a Spicy Cucumber Margarita or two.

How to Work with Your Broke Unemployed Family and Friends to Sell Stuff This Holiday Season
You should have a plastic case that you can also get from Wal-Mart and some paper shopping bags to keep under the table to wrap up whatever they buy. In addition, you want to have a business card stand so people can take your business card when they buy from you. HM Fixtures around 6200 area on Jimmy Carter is my favorite spot to go buy retail display stuff and you can go check out jewelry display cases and other type of stuff you can use to have a better table vendor display. Some table vendors take credit card but I really don’t know if it is worth it from my experience. Most customers will just take their ass to an ATM and come back with the money if you convince them and that beats having a mobile merchant setup that can be expensive. Besides, you want to have cash on hand when you are a table vendor for the holidays.

Hope and Change or Bait and Switch
Not by just a little, but by a margin so great that it is embarrassing. How did he get in over his head? Victor Davis Hanson’s theory is essentially that the Obama administration psyched itself into this error, first by imagining itself as the leader from behind the teleprompter of the Arab Wave, and second by thinking that by applying a little nudge here and nudge there they could remake the region. Egypt was the first gentle step, but the second step was a doozy. Second, Europe pushed him by upselling what was essentially their idea. Like a salesman who sees a customer returning again and again to a certain display case, Sarkozy pretended to buy the product beside it and by panicking the buyer who now imagined someone else would get his coveted item, sold him the paste in the jewelry display case. What visions momentarily danced in Barack’s head? Immortal fame was there for the taking. I remember wondering, why did he think the UN NFZ resolution was historical’?

The collection
I found the first one hidden among a tray of gaudy costume jewelry in a display case at the local Waterfront Mission. I knew immediately what it was and asked the clerk if she could get it out for me to see. The black wooden beads polished to a high sheen, I could imagine them being worn smooth from years of use, thousands of prayers recited, thousands of Our Fathers and Hail Marys. The crucifix made of the same ebony wood as the beads, was accented with silver and stamped ‘Italy’ on the back. It felt like I had found a lost treasure and knew I would be taking it home. Having been raised in the Baptist Church, and married in a Presbyterian one, it felt slightly heretical to bring a Catholic relic into my house. I didn’t know how to pray a rosary, and at the time, knew nothing of substance about Catholicism. All I did know was that holding it in my hands, working my fingers around each bead, somehow felt right.
